NYCFC (-130) vs. DC United (+315)
NYCFC can go top of the Eastern Conference and top of the MLS overall if they beat DC United at home at the Yankee Stadium because Toronto FC are not playing this week.
The boys in blue lost for the first time in more than a month when they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Orlando City last Sunday, and will be looking to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
DC United smashed six goals past a hapless Chicago Fire team last weekend on their way to a 6-2 victory with Patrick Mullins scoring his first professional hat trick in that game.
With only one win on the road this season (1-4-7), it is easy to see why DC’s moneyline odds are so long. However, NYCFC has conceded 45 goals in the league this season so are shaky at the back, which makes me like Bovada’s odds of +100 on there to be between 2 and 3 goals in this game.
NYCFC won the last meeting between the two sides earlier in the season, running out 2-1 winners. A similar result, that is NYCFC winning by one goal, is priced at +285 and I like those odds.
Pick: NYCFC at -130
LA Galaxy (-140) vs. Columbus Crew SC (+345)
LA Galaxy extended their unbeaten run to six games with a goalless draw at home to Vancouver Whitecaps last week, but they have drawn five games during that lossless run.
Galaxy have to make do without the services of talismanic forward Robbie Keane who is playing in his final Republic of Ireland game in a friendly fixture this weekend.
Columbus Crew SC have been a shadow of their former selves this season, although they did manage to win their first home game since May 28 when they beat San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 at the weekend.
The Galaxy have a four-game unbeaten home run against Crew (winning two and drawing two) so the -140 odds on a Galaxy win look good. As do the +280 for the game to end level after 90-minutes.
I think Galaxy will win at -140 but also like the look of the over 2.5 goals market at -145, perhaps even as a parlay bet.
Pick: LA Galaxy at -140
New England Revolution (-110) vs. Colorado Rapids (+290)
New England Revolution are five points off the playoff places but should be much higher up the league, but they simply do not score enough goals.
The Revolution have only scored 29 goals in 27 games, and haven’t scored for four consecutive games, which seems strange considering they have Kei Kamara as a forward, although he only has four goals to his name for the Revs this season.
Colorado Rapids lost 2-1 to Real Salt Lake last week, only their second loss since April 13. If only the Rapids could match their 9-0-4 home record when on the road (2-4-6) they would be running away with the MLS overall by some margin.
As it is, Rapids are poor on the road so don’t expect much value from the +290 odds on them winning this fixture. I like the tie at +240 and the under 2.5 goals at -135.
Pick: Tie at +240
