Here are a few NFL Week 15 betting options to consider, with odds courtesy of Bet365.
New York Giants (-213) vs. Detroit Lions (+175)
Two of the hottest teams in football will square off in a crucial match on Sunday as the New York Giants host the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions at MetLife Stadium.
The Giants — coming off possibly their biggest victory of the year — have won seven of the last eight games. Sitting second behind the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East with first place in their sights, the Giants enter action on Sunday as the -213 favorites on home field, where they’ve been extraordinary this season. The red-hot Lions — winners of five straight — can really separate themselves from the rest of the pack in the NFC North with a victory on Sunday. The Lions are +175 underdogs.
Giants’ wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is starting to heat up just at the right time. The superstar receiver is coming off a huge game against the Cowboys and will be looking for the same performance against the Lions. Beckham Jr. sits fourth in receiving yards with 1,109, putting him behind Antonio Brown, T.Y. Hilton and Julio Jones.
Matthews Stafford has thrown for 3,447 yards passing this season, but the Lions quarterback may be in a little trouble heading into action on Sunday. Stafford is nursing a finger injury on his throwing hand, so expect his offensive numbers to be slightly down against a solid Giants defense.
Betting the over/under? Bet365 has set a total points line of 41, but don’t expect these low-scoring clubs to surpass that mark.
Pick: New York Giants (213) and the Under
New England Patriots (-167) vs. Denver Broncos (+145)
The Denver Broncos are trying to stay in the playoff race, but it won’t get much easier with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots rolling into town. The Broncos will host the Pats in a crucial matchup on Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
In a tight AFC West Division, the Broncos need this one a lot more than the Patriots do. Denver enters Sunday’s game as intriguing +145 underdogs, while the Patriots — winners of four straight — are -167 favorites.
With an 8-5 record, the Broncos remain in wild-card position but the club can’t afford to lose at this point of the season. Of course Denver will rely on its third-ranked defense to stop Brady and New England’s powerful offense. The Broncos are allowing just 310.7 yards per game this season, but the Pats are fourth overall in offense, averaging just shy of 400 yards per game.
These two teams last clashed in the playoffs last season, where the defending Super Bowl champion Broncos edged the Pats 20-18.
The over/under total for Sunday’s contest is set at 44. Denver’s shutdown defense will result in a low-scoring affair in this one.
Pick: Denver Broncos (+145) and the Under
Dallas Cowboys (-312) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+245)
Are the Dallas Cowboys starting to come back down to earth? For the first time this season, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott looked like a rookie in a 10-7 defeat against he New York Giants, which also saw Dallas’ 11-game win streak come to an end.
Prescott and the Cowboys will look to get back on winning track on Sunday night when they host the equally hot Tampa Bay Buccaneers at AT&T Stadium.
The Cowboys, who still hold first in the NFC East, enter Sunday’s contest as convincing -312 favorites. The Bucs — winners of five straight — are intriguing +245 underdogs.
If Prescott continues to struggle, look for the Cowboys to run the ball aggressively. That’s not such a bad idea when you have the NFL’s rushing leader on your team either. Ezekiel Elliott, who’s benefitted from having the league’s best offensive line, has rushed for 1,392 yards and will almost certainly break the 1,400 mark on Sunday.
The Bucs are 5-1 on the road this season and are putting the pressure on Atlanta for first place in the NFC South, as both clubs are deadlocked at 8-5.
This match has all the makings of a high-scoring match, so taking the over on Bet365’s total points line of 46.5 is a good bet. The Bucs are going to make this really close, but America’s Team will come out with a hard-fought victory.
Pick: Dallas Cowboys (-312) and the Over
