Best NHL bets on Tuesday

There are some exciting tilts slated for the NHL on Tuesday with splendid wagering opportunities. Here’s a look at the top games, with odds provided by BetOnline.ag:

New York Rangers (+129) at Chicago Blackhawks (-143)

Rangers coach Alain Vigneault wouldn’t reveal his starting goalie but after back-to-back shutouts, the first of those a 1-0 OT win over Chicago, how can he not stick with Antti Raanta? Raanta extended his shutout sequence to 151:04 in a 5-0 win over the Devils and was named the NHL’s second star of the week after allowing one goal in three games. Rangers forward Chris Kreider has seven points in six games and Brandon Pirri ended a 13-game goalless drought with a tally against New Jersey.

Already without captain Jonathan Toews (back) for the past nine games, and goalie Corey Crawford, who has missed five games following an appendectomy, Chicago has been without defenseman Brent Seabrook for the past two games due to a head injury. Seabrook has only missed 13 games in 11 NHL seasons. The Blackhawks are 1-2-1 in their last four games.

Pick: The Rangers (+129)

Washington Capitals (-130) at New York Islanders (+118)

First time on the the ice for the Islanders since coach Jack Capuano tore a strip off the team following Saturday’s 6-2 loss at Columbus.

Capuano was not pleased with his club’s puck management as they surrendered four third-period goals. The loss ended the Isles’ six-game (5-0-1) points streak. At home, the Islanders are 4-0-2 in their last six games.

The Capitals have won four in a row, the last victory a 3-0 shutout of Vancouver. How tough is the competition in the East? Washington is on pace for 112 points and currently holds down the second wildcard spot in the conference. The Capitals are a solid 6-3-3 on the road.

Pick: The Capitals (-130)

St. Louis Blues (+111) at Nashville Predators (-123)

blues

Rematch of last spring’s exciting second-round playoff matchup sees the Blues come to Nashville off a 3-1 loss at Minnesota that moved the Wild to within two points of second-place St. Louis in the Central Division race. Conclusion of a four-game road trip during which the Blues are 1-2. St. Louis is a disappointing 4-8-1 on the road. Vladimir Tarasenko has points in 14 of the last 18 games (10-13-23).

Struggling Nashville is 1-3-1 in its last five games. The Predators have allowed at least three goals in 14 of their last 16 games. Defenseman Roman Josi has three goals in his last six games. Nashville’s Filip Forsberg has gone eight games without a goal and seven games without a point.

Pick: The Blues (+111)

Columbus Blue Jackets (+102) at Edmonton Oilers (-113)

oil

Columbus begins a three-game road trip on a six-game winning streak and with points in eight straight (7-0-1), 13 of the last 14 contests (11-1-2) and 18 of the past 20 (15-2-3). Jackets are also 5-0-1 in their last six road games. Happy homecoming for former Oilers first-round pick Sam Gagner, who must be the bargain-basement free agent signing of the summer, scoring 11 goals already for the Blue Jackets, who signed him to a one-year, $650,000 deal.

The Oilers announced Monday that defenseman Darnell Nurse would require surgery to repair ligament and bone damage in his right ankle and will be out for 12 weeks. Edmonton ended an 0-1-3 skid with a 3-2 win Sunday over Winnipeg. NHL scoring leader Connor McDavid has 7-12-19 totals in his last 13 games.

Pick: The Blue Jackets (+102)
