Online Sports Betting’s 2015-16 NBA Pacific Division Preview
Golden State Warriors
Odds To Win The NBA Championship: 5/1
The Golden State Warriors are your defending NBA champs for the first time since the mid-70s and they look more than capable of replicating last year’s success. Reigning MVP Steph Curry continues to lead to a streamroller of a Western Conference contender that racked up a league-best 110 points-per-game and were near unbeatable at home going 39-2 in the regular season. The Warriors are young, dangerous and hungry to carve out a lengthy legacy at the top. Oddsmakers have the Cavs as the only more likely champ for next summer, but the Warriors loom as the most fearsome threat until they’re knocked off.
Los Angeles Clippers
Odds To Win The NBA Championship: 9/1
Depending on how you feel about the the revival prospects with the Lakers, the Pacific Division is really a two horse race between the Warriors and the Clippers. Blake Griffin and the Clip Show initially had an impressive postseason run (defeating the Spurs is always a big deal), but being shown to the exit by the Rockets had to have stung. There were a few tweaks made to the club in the offseason (like Paul Pierce as a new arrival) however the real signing drama came over the fight to keep DeAndre Jordan in a red and blue uniform. One thing that might help the Clips take the next stop in this year’s playoffs would be an improvement to their weak rebounding prowess.
Los Angeles Lakers
Odds To Win The NBA Championship: 100/1
The current edition of the Los Angeles Lakers enters the 2015-16 season with an air of mystery around them. The team absolutely stunk last year, but there’s reason to believe some level of improvement is a lock for the purple and gold in this upcoming season. Kobe should be relatively healthy after getting shut down in January, 2014 first rounder Julius Randle will have a proper rookie season after an injury-axed first campaign, #2 overall pick D’Angelo Russell appears to be the franchise’s point guard of the future and Roy Hibbert begins life as a Laker after a deal with the Pacers. Will this refreshed Lakers team gel and produce results? We’ll have to wait and see.
Odds To Win The NBA Championship: 150/1
After a 90s/00s run of being a reliably good/competitive team, the Suns have morphed into a steady fixture as an Association bottomfeeder. Phoenix haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, but a new face on the roster might give this Arizona basketball club the boost it needs. Tyson Chandler will be the new man in the middle and (ideally) instantly improve a weak defense that racked near the bottom of the league for points allowed per game. Doing better than last year’s 39-43 record is certainly within reach.
Odds To Win The NBA Championship: 250/1
Quite possibly the most functional franchise in basketball at the moment, the Sacramento Kings were complete mess last season and there’s little evidence that will change in 2015-16. A fresh injection of new talent like #6 overall pick Willie Cauley-Stein, Marco Belinelli, Kosta Koufos and the enigma that is Rajon Rondo could give the Kings some new oomph following last year’s trainwreck. Can coach George Karl weave some magic with this revamped roster? It will intriguing if nothing else to see how this plays out.
