Online Sports Betting’s Sneak Peek At This Year’s Heisman Trophy Contenders

Online Sports Betting’s Sneak Peek At This Year’s Heisman Trophy Contenders
Why wait for kickoff to look at this year's Heisman Trophy candidates? Will college football's most prestigious individual trophy go to a Buckeye or maybe it's earmarked for outside Columbus. Here's a look at this year's early Heisman Trophy contenders.

Trevone Boykin – TCU (Odds – 6/1)

TCU always seems to be overlooked when it comes to college football, but at the moment there’s no one boasting better odds than Horned Frogs pivot Trevone Boykin when it comes to the Heisman. It’s not hard to see why he’s such a promising candidate. The QB was vital in TCU unleashing that monster spread offense and threw for nearly 4,000 yards with 33 TDs and a bunch of shattered school records in his wake. With increased experience and returning weapons at his disposal, Boykin appears to be in line for a blockbuster year.

Ezekiel Elliott – Ohio State (Odds – 7/1)

The defending champion Buckeyes are aiming for another impressive campaign. Star running back Ezekiel Elliott might be the best running back in the NCAA and he’s got a remarkable offensive line striving to make his work as easy as possible. How stacked are Ohio State on offense? Stacked enough that all three Buckeye QBs are in the Heisman picture. Braxton Miller’s considered a 10/1 shot, Cardale Jones is a little further down the futures board at 20/1 and J.T. Barrett owns a 25/1 spot.

Nick Chubb – Georgia (Odds – 10/1)

You’re really spoiled for choice when it comes to SEC running backs that are taking a shot at Heisman immortality. LSU has Leonard Fournette, Alabama boasts Derrick Henry and Georgia strikes fear into opposing defenses hearts courtesy of Nick Chubb. The sophomore Bulldog will be given every opportunity possible to handle the rock and display his tough and productive rushing style. Gaining 1,547 yards as a freshman behind Todd Gurley is nothing to undersell.

Cody Kessler – USC (Odds – 12/1)

Could we see two straight years of Pac-12 talents earning the Heisman? The mostly likely candidate to pull of that feat is USC quarterback Cody Kessler. Last season, Kessler threw for 39 touchdowns with only five picks guiding an offensively gifted Trojans squad. He returns to this high powered points machine as a senior with an excellent offensive line.

Dak Prescott – Mississippi State (Odds – 12/1)

Opinion seems to be mixed on Dak Prescott’s chances of winning the Heisman. The Mississippi State QB’s odds of winning the prize have sometimes fluctuated, but he’s arguably the best QB in the SEC (sorry Jeremy Johnson) and had a chance to win the trophy last year before the Bulldogs sputtered out. In case you forgot, Prescott racked up 4,470 total yards last year.

Scooby Wright – Arizona (Odds – 100/1)

Alright, so this is a little bit off the Heisman conteder trail, but Scooby Wright presents the best chance we’ll have to see a defensive player win the trophy. (The last guy to pull that off? Charles Woodson in 1997.) The Wildcats linebacker gobbled up opposing offenses without mercy in 2014 and exited with 163 total tackles plus a handsome stockpile of award hardware.
