Online Sports Betting’s Travelers Championship Preview

Online Sports Betting’s Travelers Championship Preview
Bubba Watson, Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia are just some of the contenders vying for the 2015 Travelers Championship title. Who will emerge with the desired combo of cash, hardware and FedExCup points? Here's what we project.

A Look At The Course

Established back in 1928, TPC River Highlands has been a regular New England stop on the PGA Tour since 1984. A 6,841 yards, par 70 course, TPC River Highlands has a reputation for being particulalry unforgiving in the rough. The four acre lake on the site will definitely play a factor when it comes to holes 15, 16 and 17. Finishing strong means staying out of the drink.

Our Pick – Bubba Waston

There’s an ample amount of fuss made about how TPC River Highlands breeds a lot of new winners, but we like Bubba Watson to walk away with his Travellers Championship victory. The 2010 tourney winner (seen as 12/1 winner to be crowned the champ on Sunday) should have no problem getting to the pin with his Top 10 driving power and ability to finish on the green. Watson ranks in the Top 10 for eagle and birdie averages and he doesn’t have to worry about a Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth or Dustin Johnson breathing down his neck. Take Bubba’s US Open performance as just a bad day at the office. Other contenders in the running this weekend include Sergio Garcia (18/1), Patrick Reed (14/1) and Billy Horschel (18/1). We would have plunked Jason Day’s name in that bunch but he’s elected to withdraw from the tournament.

Pick: Bubba Watson (12/1)

A Look Ahead

With the US Open done and dusted, the golf world has an excited eye trained on next month’s British Open. At the moment, there are two mega-favourites at the top of the Futures boards. Oddsmakers have Rory McIlroy at 4/1 to emerge victorious at St. Andrews, while Jordan Spieth is saddled with 6/1 odds. How wild is it that Spieth could potentially pull off the grand slam in 2015? Moving down the contenders slate, Dustin Johnson is seen as a 12/1 bid, Justin Rose is at 16/1 and Adam Scott is positioned as a 20/1 shot. As is habit with these sorts of things, we’d like to point out that Tiger Woods is considered a 40/1 candidate. The drama offically tees off in July.
