Online Sports Betting’s 2015-16 NBA Northwest Division Preview

Online Sports Betting’s 2015-16 NBA Northwest Division Preview
Can Oklahoma City snap back into title contender status? Can Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns help Minnesota take another step in their rebirth? Is there life after LaMarcus Aldridge in Portland? Here's our look at the NBA's Northwest Division for 2015-16.

Denver Nuggets

Odds To Win The NBA Championship: 250/1

The Denver Nuggets are still trying to sort things out after parting ways with GM Masai Ujiri a couple years back and remain in a definite rebuild stage. The upside is that there are players on the roster worth rebuilding with. Kenneth Faried, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and draft pick Emmanuel Mudiay offer a glimmer of hope in Colorado, although the loss of Ty Lawson in a trade looms over the upcoming season. The arrival of new head coach Michael Malone offers up its own share of intrigue.

Minnesota Timberwolves

Odds To Win The NBA Championship: 150/1

Minnesota’s youth movement is in front and center in 2015-16, but that was a given considering how long this club’s stunk up the joint. The turnaround appears ready to begin with Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins entering his second season, #1 overall pick Karl-Anthony Towns joining the ranks and a young cast continuing to improve their craft. Oh, also Kevin Garnett’s still there on his reunion tour which continues to mess with everyone’s heads. Defense will be a priority this season if the Timberwolves want to improve. In 2014-15, Minnesota gave up a whopping 106.5 points-per-game. Not a great look.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Odds To Win The NBA Championship: 17/2

Welcome back, OKC. The Thunder enter 2015-16 after spending their previous year in injury hell. Kevin Durant’s health woes were particularly nasty and even with Russell Westbrook putting in a spectacular effort, the Thunder missed the playoffs in 2014-15. The Thunder, who have axed Scott Brooks and brought in Billy Donovan to coach, are expected to bounce back in a big way with Durant and Westbrook both on the court. Adding to the drama is Durant’s looming free agency, a circumstance that will lead to every regular season and (possible) playoff development being analyzed 10,000 different ways.

Portland Trail Blazers

Odds To Win The NBA Championship: 100/1

Poor Portland. They won the Northwest Division title last year (partially thanks to OKC’s awful season) and now they’re pegged as a 100/1 longshot to win the NBA Championship next summer. The loss of LaMarcus Aldridge in free agency stings a bit, as does the exit of players like Nicolas Batum and Wesley Matthews. New faces are in Rip City, mind you. Mason Plumlee, Gerald Henderson and Al-Farouq Aminu join the squad for the new campaign. The pressure will fall on Damian Lillard to shine as Portland figures out how to make this overhaul work to their benefit.

Utah Jazz

Odds To Win The NBA Championship: 100/1

The Jazz are aiming to rebound from an unsatisfying sub-.500 2014-15 season with something a bit snappier. Utah has quietly assembled an impressive collection of young talent that includes Derrick Favors, Rudy Gobert, Alec Burks and Gordon Hayward plus the freshly drafted Trey Lyles. The Jazz played some stifling defense last season, but the expectation is that the number under Utah on the scoreboard is expected to grow. Putting up 95.1 points-per-game in the ultra competitive Western Conference just won’t do the trick.
