D.C United (+190) vs. New York Red Bulls (+145)
Before a ball had been kicked, you would have thought the D.C United versus New York Red Bulls fixture would have been a top of the table clash, but D.C. find themselves languishing in seventh place in the Eastern Conference, with the Red Bulls one place above them courtesy of games won.
D.C have won two, drawn one, and lost three of their six games at home this season and we believe they will have lost four by the time this fixture is complete. While the Red Bulls are out of sorts at the moment, they are unbeaten in three games (winning two of those) and things looks to be starting to come together.
In their favour, D.C are unbeaten in three regular season games at their RFK Stadium home against the Red Bulls, but the Red Bulls did beat them 1-0 in the playoffs semi-finals last season.
Pick: New York Red Bulls at +145
Columbus Crew SC (+100) vs. Colorado Rapids (+250)
Columbus Crew found their scoring boots last week, putting four goals past the Montreal Impact, but also forgot how to defend and leaked four goals at the other end for an eight-goal thriller.
Kei Kamara bagged a brace of goals in that game to take his tally to five for the season, yet he will not play against the Colorado Rapids after head coach Gregg Berhalter suspended him following an outburst to the media following that 4-4 draw.
The Rapids are the surprise package of the season, currently top of the Western Conference by three points, and leading the MLS overall. They have won six straight games at home, although their away form is 1-2-2, which is obviously not as solid.
You can find odds of around +250 on a Rapids win, and we think that is excellent value, but we’re edging on the side of caution in this game and plumping for a tie at +280.
Pick: Tie at +280
Portland Timbers (-115) vs NYCFC (+300)
When we looked at this week’s fixtures, the Portland Timbers versus NYCFC game looked to be the one that should be packed with goals. The Timbers have score 16 and conceded 20 goals in 11 games, while NYCFC have scored and conceded 15 in their 10 games.
Timbers go into this match has huge favorites with odds of -115, partly because the Timbers are 3-1-1 at home this season and also because Fanendo Adi has scored seven goals. However, NYCFC have an in-form forward of their own, Spain’s David Villa has netted seven times and looks practically unstoppable.
Odds of +300 are available on a NYCFC victory and those are just too long for us to turn down.
Pick: NYCFC at +300
