Wimbledon Betting Tips : Women’s Final Preview
Serena Williams is on course for her seventh Wimbledon title, but has a difficult match against Germany’s Angelique Kerber in the final first. Can Williams do it?

Williams

Serena Williams (-333) is the odds on favorite to win the women’s single Wimbledon 2016 title. If Williams overcomes Angelique Kerber in the final, it would be her seventh Wimbledon title, and the second time she has won back-to-back Wimbledon singles.

Williams did not even get out of second gear in her semi-final clash with Elena Vesnina, yet she still brushed her aside with ease, winning 6-2 6-0.

While Vesnina did not really turn up for this match, it shows how dangerous Williams can be, and Kerber needs to be on top of her game if she is to stop Williams’ charge.

At -139, the most likely scoreline, according to bookmakers, is a 2-0 victory by Williams, and I would tend to agree.

Williams and Kerber have met on seven occasions, Williams winning five of those meetings, and always in straight sets. Interestingly enough, with that fact on the table, Kerber is still +100 to win at least one set in this final game.

Kerber

Kerber, the tournament’s fourth seed, is ranked fourth in the world and will be a stern test for Williams. Earlier in 2016, Kerber beat Williams 6-4 3-6 6-4 in the Australian Open final, although that was on a hard court surface.

Serena Williams’ sister, Venus, was Kerber’s semi-final opponent, and she only needed two sets to send her to the showers, running out a 6-4 6-4 winner. Will Serena up her game to avenge her sister’s defeat?

While all the talk is of Williams winning yet another title, do not write off Kerber’s chances. We have already mentioned that she has won the Australian Open in 2016, and she also triumphed in Stuttgart so the woman has some serious game, yet goes into this match with no pressure.

You can find odds of +275 on a Kerber victory, which may be worth a small punt in case Williams does not bring her A-game to the court.

Another bet that is worth looking into is set handicap where you can find odds of +100 on Kerber with a 1.5 set advantage. However, my money will be going on Williams to win 2-1 at odds of +300 as I think that looks like the best value here.

Pick: Serena Williams to win Wimbledon 2-1 at +300
