FC Dallas (-240) vs. Minnesota United (+700)
Nothing is certain in soccer but betting on an FC Dallas victory this weekend is as close as you will get. Dallas are at home to new boys Minnesota United, who have one of the worst defenses ever assembled.
Dallas have only played three games so far this campaign, winning two and drawing one. Dallas’ only home fixture so far ended with a 2-1 victory over New England Revolution, a game they trailed for more than an hour but a late brace from Maxi Urruti helped Dallas claim all three points.
Minnesota are league’s whipping boys, having lost three of their four games. However, they turned their luck around after beating Real Salt Lake 4-2. It was probably a flash in the pan as Minnesota have looked dreadful and, conceding 20 goals in five games.
The over 2.5 goals market is currently priced at -210 while the over 2.5 goals for Dallas is +110. They’re both good wagers.
Pick: Over 2.5 goals at -210
Chicago Fire (+105) vs. Columbus Crew (+240)
Fire saw new signing Bastian Schweinsteiger mark his debut with a 17th minute goal and was massively influential. The German legend, a signing from Manchester United, looked a class above throughout the game against Impact and will be a key figure when Fire host table-topping Columbus Crew on Saturday.
Crew are the early pace setters in the Western Conference with 10 points from their opening five games. Three wins, a draw and one defeat has put Crew in a good early position.
Crew have won one and lost one of their two away fixtures this season, the defeat coming on March 12 when they lost 3-1 at Houston Dynamo. Crew have scored in all five regular season games and I’d expect them to continue this streak as Fire have only recorded one shutout.
Three of the past five meetings between these sides has ended in a draw, with the last two games at Chicago ending in a stalemate. Considering this, a tie looks like a good bet to make.
Pick: Draw at +260
