Ducks hungry to force seventh game

Ducks hungry to force seventh game
The Western Conference Final shifts back to Nashville on Monday night as the Predators can knock out the Anaheim Ducks and head to the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history but the Ducks won’t go down without a fight.

Ducks will take it to a deciding game

Here are a few NHL betting options to consider, with odds courtesy of Bovada.

Nashville Predators (-145) vs. Anaheim Ducks (+125)

Preds Ducks

The Nashville Predators can make history on Monday night when they play host to the Anaheim Ducks in Game 6 of the Western Conference Final at Bridgestone Arena. With a victory, the Preds secure a spot in the Stanley Cup Final, but first will have to defeat a hungry Ducks team looking to push this series to seven games.

The Predators enter action on Monday night as -145 favorites on home ice, where the club has only lost once in these playoffs. It’ll be a tough task for the Ducks, who head to the Music City as intriguing +125 underdogs.

Nobody expected the Predators to be in this position as a wild-card playoff team. Knocking out the powerhouse Blackhawks in the first round before taking down the Blues in the second, now Nashville can eliminate the series favorite Ducks and await the winner of the Eastern Conference Final.

NHL odds

The Ducks will not go without a fight. The 2007 Cup champions have been in this position before and know the pressure that comes with closing out a conference championship.

Both the Ducks and Preds have been evenly matched. Nashville is averaging 2.90 goals for per game compared to the Ducks, who are netting 2.76. Even the shots have been split down the middle, with the Preds owning a slim advantage at 31.08 per game compared to Anaheim’s 30.24.

If the Predators hope to close out this series, they’ll want to avoid the penalty box at all costs against a Ducks club converting 24.24 percent of their power-play chances in the conference final. Scoring on Pekka Rinne won’t be an easy task for the Ducks as the Finn leads the league with a 1.62 goals against average and .942 save percentage.

The projected line for total goals in Game 6 has been set at 5. However take into consideration that the last three games have resulted in two pushes and one under outcome. Taking your chances on a high-scoring game at this point of the series would be a huge gamble to say the least.

Take the Ducks to notch the series at three games apiece and head back to the Honda Center for Game 7.

Pick: Anaheim Ducks (+125) and the under (5)
