Euro 2016 Germany vs Slovakia Game Preview
Euro 2016 Slovakia vs Germany Betting Lines & Prediction
By Matt Pitt
Germany are yet to live up to their +450 second favorite odds for Euro 2016 glory, yet they were unbeaten in the group stages, and have now kept five cleans sheets in a row.
People crack jokes about Germany efficiency, but how organized this side is is no laughing matter. Yes, they have not really turned on the style as of yet, but they are still going about their business and beating teams.
Germany played Slovakia in their final warm up game before Euro 2016 and lost 3-1 at home, which may have bettors clambering for the +900 on a Slovakia win. Do not, this Germany team is going to be far superior and should win this game comfortably.
Odds of -227 on a German win in 90-minutes show what the bookmakers think about how this game will play out, with 1-0 and 2-0 to Germany priced at +380 and +450, the latter being my bet for this fixture.
Thomas Muller has looked sharp and therefore a solid bet at +130 to score at any time, but I wouldn’t mind a cheeky bet on Mario Gotze at +175 to score at some point as he’s been struggling for form, and due a good game.
Slovakia showed in their 0-0 draw with England that they can soak up pressure, but Germany are a different team to England, one that has the ability to split teams open.
If Slovakia sit back and hope to hit Germany on the counter, they are playing a risky strategy because the Germans will eventually carve them open.
Slovakia’s best form of defense is attack, but they lack the superstar players to really hurt Germany in the final third, and attacking leaves their soft underbelly open to Germany’s star forwards.
Thomas Muller to score first and Germany to go on and win 2-0 is available at +1100 and that seems like a decent bet to make. As is a Germany/Germany half time/full time result at +110. As you can see, we cannot see past a Germany victory here.
