MLS Odds Analysis & Weekend Games Preview

MLS Odds Analysis & Weekend Games Preview
The New York Red Bulls go into Matchday 8 on the back of four straight defeats, and six losses from seven games. Is this the week they turn their 2016 season fortunes around?

What’s Going To Happen In The MLS

New York Red Bulls (-115) vs. Orlando City (+320)

Orlando City

Online bookmakers are still pricing New York Red Bulls as odds-on favorites in their fixture at home to Orlando City despite losing six of their seven regular season games so far in 2016. To say the Red Bulls have been poor is an understatement: they are on the back of four consecutive defeats, and until Ronald Zubar scored in their 2-1 defeat at Colorado Rapids, the Red Bulls had failed to score for 337 minutes of soccer.

Orlando City have been inconsistent so far in 2016 with a 6-1-3 record, and are priced at +320 to win this match, which does seem great value considering Red Bulls’ horrific form. While the Red Bulls could win this game comfortably, a draw seems a good bet at +270.

Pick: Tie at +270

San Jose Earthquakes (+100) vs. Sporting Kansas City (+260)

San jose Earthquakes

San Jose Earthquakes entertain Sporting Kansas City at the weekend knowing a victory could put either team into second place in the Western Conference.

The Quakes have started well in 2016, winning three, drawing and losing twice, good enough for sixth place after seven games. Their home form is exception, having won three and drawn one, a record we expect them to continue when Kansas City visit them.

Sporting Kansas City have won four and lost three of their opening games, with all three losses coming from their past four games. Things should get worse for Kansas who have not won in San Jose since August 2000, with the Quakes winning 10 and drawing five of the last 15 matches on home soil.

Pick: San Jose at +100

Colorado Rapids (+125) vs. Seattle Sounders (+210)

Colorado Rapids

Four wins, two losses and a draw have seen Colorado Rapids climb to third place in the Western Conference, while Seattle Sounders languish in eighth place, although they do have a game in hand over the teams above them

The Rapids won this fixture last year by one goal to nil, but lost 1-3 and 1-4 in the previous two fixtures.

Goals have been difficult to come by for both teams (they have scored a combined 13 so far), and the Sounders just cannot seem to string positive results together. Their past record in Colorado hints at the +210 to win being good value, but I can see the Rapids sneaking this one and making it four home wins from four.

Pick: Colorado Rapids at +125

Other Matchday 8 fixtures

Philadelphia Union (-110) vs. NYCFC (+285) – Tie at +260

D.C. United (+135) vs. New England Revolution (+190) – Tie at +230

Columbus Crew (-125) vs. Houston Dynamo (+340) – Columbus Crew at -125

Montreal Impact (-130) vs. Toronto FC (+355) – Montreal Impact at -130

Vancouver Whitecaps (+135) vs. FC Dallas (+190) – FC Dallas at +190

L.A Galaxy (-169) vs. Real Salt Lake (+450) – L.A. Galaxy at -169
