Chicago Fire (+130) versus LA Galaxy (+170)
Chicago Fire won their first away game of the season last weekend when they turned over Montreal Impact 3-0 in a shock result, and will be full of confidence for the midweek visit of LA Galaxy.
The moneyline sees Chicago start as narrow +150 favorites despite the fact Galaxy have not lost to Chicago since 2010, winning five and drawing two, and Fire having drawn twice and lost three of the meetings on home soil.
Galaxy have been hit or miss on the road this season (3-4-5) which is why they are +170 to win, with the tie at +235.
I think Galaxy to win either half at -115 is a good bet, as is Galaxy to score first and go on to win at +195, and Robbie Keane to score first at +400 although I also fancy David Accam to score for Fire at any time at +175.
Pick: La Galaxy to win at +170
Columbus Crew SC (-125) versus Philadelphia Union (+290)
Columbus Crew entertain Philadelphia Union on the back of ending their 10-game winless run courtesy of a 2-0 win away to New England Revolution last weekend, and they will be hoping to build on that victory with another three points at home to Union.
Crew have drawn eight of their 12 home games this season, but a win could take them to within two points of a playoff place.
Union are 2-6-4 on the road, which is probably why Crew are -125 to win compared to Union’s +290 although I think the +290 for the draw looks like a solid wager, too.
This is the third time the teams have met in the league this season, and Union have won both previous encounters 1-2 at Crew and 3-2 at home. Those results make the -200 available on over 2.5 goals look attractive if you like betting on that particular market.
Bookies seem to think the most likely result is a 1-1 tie at +575 and that is what I will be betting on in this game.
Pick: 1-1 tie at +575
Houston Dynamo (+140) versus Seattle Sounders (+190)
Houston Dynamo go into the game against Seattle Sounders eight points adrift of the playoff places, and with time running out to secure points, Dynamo need all three of them from this game.
The last two meetings between these sides took place at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, both ended in a 1-1 tie, which you can bet on with odds of +450 for this encounter.
It is worth noting that Dynamo have never lost to Sounders on home soil having won and drawn three games. However, Sounders are full of confidence after winning their third consecutive league game in a 3-1 win against Portland Timbers.
Sounders’ Clint Dempsey scored two goals (he now has eight for the season) and is in hot form, making the +190 on him finding the back of the net in this game a real steal.
Pick: Clint Dempsey to score at anytime at +190
