Columbus Crew (-165) vs. Orlando City (+400)
After a faltering start that saw them draw and lose, Columbus Crew SC has turned on the style in their past two games and beaten D.C. United 2-0 on the road, which was followed up by a thrilling five-goal encounter at home to Portland Timbers 3-2.
Crew entertain Orlando City at the Mapfre Stadium in Ohio knowing a victory could see them go three points clear atop the Eastern Conference. Crew are favorites for the victory, not least because they have won three of the previous five encounters against Orlando, scoring 13 goals in the process.
Orlando have won both of their games thus far. Home ties against New York City FC and Philadelphia Union ended 1-0 and 2-1, but this will be the team’s toughest test as they traditionally struggle away from home and have a poor recent record against Columbus Crew.
Expect lots of goals in this clash. In the last five meetings between Crew and Orlando, there have been 23 goals with all five games paying out the over 2.5 goals market. It would be a shock if this latest battle didn’t do the same.
Pick: Over 2.5 goals at -180
New York City FC (-130) vs. San Jose Earthquakes (+330)
This season has been typical NYCFC so far, great in attack but poor in defense. The blue half of New York has scored five times in three games while conceding two.
David Villa has scored two goals, but so does new signing Rodney Wallace who already looks like one of the finds of the season.
The ‘Quakes have won both of their home games this season but lost 2-1 on the road to Sporting Kansas City on March 18. Last season, San Jose lost nine of their 17 away fixtures and only one once, posting a 1-9-7 record.
Pick: NYCFC to win at -130
